This original piece of Art is entitled ' Metamorphosis' and is signed by the artist. It is painted on 16 by 20 inch cold press watercolor paper.
This is the fourth in a series of art entitled 'Talking Hands'. In this series I am exploring how hands are powerful communicators of feeling.
'Metamorphosis' appears on first glance to be an eye with an image of the ASL sign for isolation in its pupil. However, as you look closer many other hands can be seen. Indeed the whole iris is made up of hands. The inspiration for this piece came from talking to a group of High School deaf students who use sign language as their main method of communication. Without it they feel isolated but with it their world metamorphoses just as the eye does for you.
Starting directly above the central ASL sign for isolation are two outstretched hands. These express how they feel scared when isolated. Going clockwise from these hands are the signs showing how oppressed they feel if isolated, that friendships can be built when people understand them, how signing helps them to carry on, how barriers can be broken down, how it provides a way they can communicate and ease frustration, how it provides a way to express their feelings, how it helps to avoid confusion and lastly how they can express their love for others close to them.
This original painting is supplied mounted in double black mats with a contemporary black frame and glazed with anti-reflection acrylic. It will be well packed for shipping.

Our intention is to charge shipping at cost, however the shopping cart we are using doesn’t cater for this. The shipping charges you see when you add an item to the cart are appropriate for a single item to Canada and the USA. If you order multiple items it is likely that we can ship for less than the cumulative price the cart will calculate - we will refund the difference. On the other hand, if you are ordering from outside Canada/USA the shipping may be more than indicated. If so, we will need to contact you with the additional cost. Obviously you may decline if you wish, in which case we will refund your order in full.
