A Slice of Life

This book explores different aspects of art history  through nine watercolour paintings created by Ona Kingdon and an accompanying short fictional narrative written by Ona  and her daughter.

The story, set on an artists still life table, tells a tale of crime, desire, intrigue, love and much more and explores how passionate fruit  might be if they had feelings and were faced with life and death  situations.

The art journal gives readers a glimpse into the significant artistic contributions of Pablo Picasso, Paul Cezanne, Jules Cheret, Jan Van  Eyck, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, Dutch Vanitas style paintings,  Ancient Egyptian art, Expressionism and Surrealism. It also explains how Ona used these styles to create and develop the story through the nine  original and unique watercolour paintings.

'A Slice of Life' is a book for those who just love art or those with a wry sense of humour. It would also be an invaluable resource for  teachers both in an Elementary and Secondary setting.
